Preds host lowly Rangers in Saturday meeting at the Stone
Coming off a thrilling 5-0 drubbing of the Los Angeles Kings Thursday evening, the Nashville Predators will once again stay at home, welcoming the New York Rangers (25-21-5, 55 pts), who currently sit next to last in the Metropolitan division and have lost 7 of their last 10. The Rangers, however, are only 1 point out of the Eastern Conference Wild Card race, so the boys in gold better not get caught sleeping.
The Predators (30-12-7, 67 pts), currently sitting two points behind Winnipeg for the Central, hope that they can continue to rack up points to get the club’s first franchise division banner. Having Filip Forsberg activated lifted the once struggling offense Thursday, making the Predators full strength for the first time this season.
The Rangers left winger Pavel Buchnevich left Thursday’s contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs (a 4-0 loss) and will not return for the matchup in Nashville. However, another left winger Chris Kreider skated during Wednesday’s practice for the first time since undergoing surgery on Jan. 9.
Despite a mostly frustrating season for the Blueshirts, they still have a lot to play for, currently one point behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the second wild card spot.
Also, Cody McLeod returns to Nashville as a Ranger, but are we excited about it?
Survey says, probably not.
