Coming off a disappointing yet valiant effort in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs last night, the Predators will get a second dose of action tonight against the Ottawa Senators.
The Senators (18-25-9, 45 pts) have struggled all season, being second to last in the Eastern Conference with the third worst goal differential at -42, on the complete opposite end of the spectrum from the Preds (32-18-8, 72 pts)have the league’s fifth best goal differential at +29.
The Senators 5-3 win over New Jersey Tuesday night was only their third in their last ten. The league recently punished the Sens Tuesday in suspending winger Alex Burrows for 10 games and having him forfeit his salary for in a fit of rage chasing, punching, and kneeing New Jersey’s Tyler Hall in the face. Add that to a plethora of injured Senators like Nate Thompson, Derrick Brassard, and Bobby Ryan just to name a few and the boys from the Canadian capital are quite battered.
Right now, the only thing that seems to be working for the Senators is Matt Duchene who currently sits at 30 points, and gained 3 points in Tuesday’s win with a goal and two assists.
This will be the Preds final game without Filip Forsberg, who was suspended following Saturday’s win over the Rangers for three games.
