Preds meet Sharks for Thursday night tilt
by Jackson Walsh
Coming off two straight wins, the Central Division leading Nashville Predators (36-14-9, 81 points) will look to extend their streak Thursday night against the San Jose Sharks. This is the second meeting between the two Western Conference contenders this season, The Predators fell to the Sharks 4-1 at the HP Pavilion on November 1st, 2017. San Jose will travel back to Nashville on March 29 for the teams third and final meeting of the 2017-18 season.
The Sharks, winners of their last three, have a three-point lead for second place in the Pacific Division at 32-19-8 and 72 points. Nashville will look to tame them when they come into the TireBarn as part of their four Central Division team roadtrip.
The Predators seem to have their groove back after an inconsistent mid February, following a convincing 5-2 slamming of the Senators at Bridgestone and their first win vs the Red Wings since 2013 Tuesday night at Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit.
Not only does this game spell division points for each teams, but it’s a potential playoff matchup. Both of these teams know how to light the lamp and get physical and set up scoring opportunities. Though Nashville fell in the 2016 playoffs to San Jose, that whole series was one for the ages.
